Goal 2: Education

To empower girls and young mothers affected by poverty, early pregnancy, and sexual violence through access to adult education, vocational training, and SRHR education—restoring dignity and supporting long-term self-reliance.

Welcome to The City of Peace Community Learning Center.

Here, at the City of Peace Community Learning Center, young women who have dropped out of school due to early pregnancy, poverty, or sexual violence are given a second chance through a holistic and dignified approach.

We make this possible by removing the barriers that often keep young mothers from returning to school. While they study and access learning resources, their children are cared for in our on-site daycare by trained child development professionals.

Meals are provided during class hours to support focus and well-being, and our educators meet each learner with patience and respect, ensuring no one is left behind.

This integrated model allows young women to heal, learn, and grow—while gaining the tools to advocate for themselves and build independent, stable futures.

Our Impact so far

  • 16 young women to sit for national examinations and enroll in college.

  • 30 learners currently preparing for exams in 2026.

  • Over 120 graduates of vocational training programs have transitioned into formal employment, entrepreneurship, or further education.

Participants report increased self-confidence, improved parenting, and reduced vulnerability to re-abuse.

Our community library and digital hub has expanded access to learning for children, youth, and elders—strengthening literacy and digital inclusion across the community.

What Makes Our Approach Unique

  • Holistic Support: Learning is paired with daily meals, mental health support, and social connection.

  • Integrated Childcare: Mothers can study with peace of mind.

  • Trauma-Informed Teaching: Our educators understand and adapt to the realities of survivors.

  • Community Connection: Girls learn how to speak up in their homes, schools, and communities—building leadership from the inside out.

  • Non-Judgmental Environment: We don’t measure progress by grades alone. Every step forward is honored.
