The Challange

Sexual and gender-based violence remains a significant challenge affecting women, girls, and children across Kenya. Gender inequality, harmful social norms, poverty, and limited access to information increase the risk of sexual violence, child marriage, adolescent pregnancy, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation.

Children and adolescents often have limited access to age-appropriate education on healthy relationships, consent, gender equality, and personal safety. Families and communities may also lack the awareness and resources needed to recognize risks, challenge harmful practices, and protect vulnerable children. As a result, many forms of violence remain underreported, unaddressed, or normalized, with lasting consequences for individuals, families, and communitie

Our Prevention Projects

Amani Soccer Clubs (Boys & Girls)

The Amani Soccer Clubs use football as a platform for prevention, education, and community engagement. Through separate boys' and girls' teams, children and adolescents participate in regular training sessions, friendly matches, and community tournaments that promote teamwork, leadership, confidence, and respect.

Beyond the game, football creates a trusted space where participants learn about gender equality, healthy relationships, consent, child protection, and the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence. Community tournaments also bring together parents, teachers, local leaders, and other community members, providing opportunities to raise awareness, promote positive social norms, and encourage collective action to protect women, girls, and children.

By combining sport with education, the Amani Soccer Clubs use the power of football to inspire young people, strengthen communities, and help prevent violence before it occurs.

Voices Against Sexual Violence (Drama)

Voices Against Sexual Violence uses community theatre and drama to spark conversations about sexual and gender-based violence in places where people naturally gather, including markets, schools, churches, and other community spaces. Through engaging performances based on real-life situations, the program raises awareness about child protection, gender equality, healthy relationships, consent, human trafficking, and the rights of women and children.

By taking these performances directly into the community, the program reaches audiences who may have limited access to formal education or awareness campaigns. Each performance creates opportunities for reflection, discussion, and learning, helping communities recognize harmful practices, challenge stigma, and strengthen their role in preventing violence.

Arts and sports are familiar and engaging entry points for young people. They create safe spaces to talk about sensitive topics like sexual violence, gender, and reproductive rights in ways that are accessible and empowering.

Young people don’t just receive information—they lead it. Through performance and peer education, they develop self-confidence, leadership skills, and public voice.

It Sparks Community-Wide Reflection and Change

Events draw diverse audiences across generations. They encourage open dialogue and challenge the silence and stigma surrounding SGBV and SRHR in rural and underserved communities.

It Bridges Education with Action and Referral

Youth-led sessions link knowledge with access to care. Peer educators provide referrals and information on local services, helping community members take informed action and access support when needed.

Our Impact so far

Over 6,000 children and youth reached through body safety and SRHR education.
More than 250 boys and young men engaged through our soccer-based mentorship program.
Community theatre performances have brought together hundreds for public conversations on gender and safety.
Peer referral systems established to help connect survivors to SRHR services, trauma care, and legal support.
Our nationally competing soccer team raises awareness in every region they visit, representing our mission on and off the field.
